About Me

I am an NBA senior writer for ESPN and the author of Bubbleball: Inside The NBA’s Fight To Save A Season, which documented my 93-day stay inside the NBA bubble at Disney World during the 2019-20 season. Bubbleball can be ordered on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.
Before joining ESPN in May 2026, I was the co-host of the independent Greatest Of All Talk NBA podcast and was the National NBA Writer for the Washington Post from 2018 to April 2026. Prior to joining The Post, I covered the NBA as a senior writer for Sports Illustrated, where I spent six years, and CBSSports.com. I began writing about basketball with the self-published Draft Kevin Durant blog in 2007 and covered the Portland Trail Blazers for seven seasons at Blazersedge.com.
I have covered 15 straight NBA Finals, the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympics, and the NBA Bubble in Disney World. Beyond my NBA writing, I have also covered the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, college football, the WNBA and the MLB playoffs, among other events.
My profile of Caitlin Clark was featured in The Year’s Best Sports Writing 2024 anthology and I was recognized by the Associated Press Sports Editors for my short feature about the Alabama men’s basketball team in 2024.
I am a graduate of the Writing Seminars at The Johns Hopkins University and a member of the Professional Basketball Writers Association, the National Audubon Society, and the California State Parks Foundation. I was born in Portland, Oregon, attended Beaverton High School, and spent most of my life in the Pacific Northwest. I moved to Los Angeles, my current home, in 2015.
